Cautionary Coastlines Globe
Cautionary Coastlines Globe
This globe is a cautionary tale depicting where sea levels will rise to if we continue following a Linear Economy lifestyle.
These globes are made from recycled plastic film canisters and manufactured in a 100% Solar Powered MicroFactory on Governors Island, New York City. Recycled film canisters are collected and melted down in our solar powered rotational molding machine to create the globes.
At recycling facilities anything that can fall through a 2β square hole (such as pill bottles, cosmetic containers, bottle caps, & film canisters) all end up in a landfill. Circular Economy Manufacturing is recycling unwanted film canisters into new products for film photography fanatics and sustainability champions alike.
Each globe is singularly unique. Colors vary unpredictably from the images shown. Working with recycled plastic makes them truly one of a kind. Globes will be predominately black with other colors mixed.

Your purchase helps us to recycle even more single-use plastic waste that might otherwise be sent to landfills, enter our waterways, or be incinerated. Thank you for helping us keep our planet clean for future generations!
Our products are durable and long-lasting, but if the recycled plastic sphere ever breaks, ship it back to us and we will send you a replacement in a comparable color. The damaged product stays within the Circular Economy by re-entering the Technical Cycle. In other words, it will be recycled and remade into a new product.
CAUTIONARY COASTLINES
Our educational globe is a representation of this digital 3D model that we created. It demonstrates where sea levels will rise to if we continue following a Linear Economy lifestyle. As you can see, large stretches of land disappear across the world.

FILM CANISTER RECYCLING
New York City recycles 1,000 tons a day through SIMS recycling in Sunset Park Brooklyn. That SIMS plant is the largest recycler in the world and they do an amazing job. Unfortunately, most small items are screened out. Anything that can fall through a 2β square hole, such as pill bottles, cosmetic containers, bottle caps, and film canisters all end up in a landfill. We have been collecting film canisters from around NYC, bringing them to our MicroFactory, shredding them, and molding them into Globes.
